SPIRITUALITY IN TIMES OF CHAOS
-MOXXY2

I used the word chaos to grab your attention more than reflect a true state of being.

What is chaos anyway? Anyone with the capability and time to sit down at their computer, surf the web, and find this article truly cannot be experiencing chaos.

Let’s first define the word chaos according to WordNet ® 2.0, © 2003 Princeton University

n 1: a state of extreme confusion and disorder [syn: pandemonium, bedlam, topsy-turvydom, topsy-turvyness] 2: the formless and disordered state of matter before the creation of the cosmos 3: (Greek mythology) the most ancient of gods; the personification of the infinity of space preceding creation of the universe [syn: Chaos] 4: (physics) a dynamical system that is extremely sensitive to its initial conditions

The earth does seem to spin off its axis at times, and the demands of everyday life can leave us distant and removed from ourselves. We give our all to family, job, and friends, but we tend to ignore the connection to ourselves and our spirit. With time moving rapidly and our heads filled with trite minutia, we must remember that we too are a physical, dynamic system, sensitive to the external world.

Why in this technological age is there such a quest for God? Has there ever been a time when the human race hasn’t been searching for self, god and meaning? The question I am going to pose is not revolutionary, but one that is rhetorical. The recent advancements in technology make the world smaller. The news media brings the raw world into our living rooms everyday. We are connected in seconds, peering into the world and it is rare to see stories of joy, courage, and strength. What we usually see is heartbreaking loss, war, natural disasters, and confusion. As it is, the pain of the human condition takes a toll on us all; let’s not mask our feelings but connect to that which brings joy. Look for the good in ourselves and others and connect to with our collective spirit. After all, isn’t it the spirit that connects us to God and meaning, or the idea of God, or the idea of meaning? And this is the purpose of the self and the soul.

Just as you found your way here to Moxxy2.com, the virtual world is now coming to a computer near you. Recent publications such as Time and Newsweek have printed issues with cover stories investigating faith, organized religion, and icons proclaiming the resurrection of hope and of spirituality. But it would seem that in 2006 with the recent onslaught of the written quest for God and spirituality that we are no closer to really understanding our chosen individual spirituality and true purpose of being.

I have no answers to the meaning of life or afterlife, but I do have now and so do you. In fact that’s all we have. Take some time right this minute and reflect on you. Not the part of you that is a parent, partner, sibling, child, or coworker, but the you who is the individual, the true YOU. Try to do this everyday.

It is so easy to lose sight of ourselves, it is so easy to forget that you are great, and have special abilities that no one else does. It’s really easy to forget that we may never have the answers to complex quest for faith, organized religion, and spirituality-but you have today and you have YOU. And when times are hard, or you feel lost or as if the world is spinning off its axis connect to the inner self, the real you, and leave the chaos for the cosmos…
