It's That Time Of Year
-DANILLE VALLONE

It's that time of year again. The weather is getting warmer and the thought of weight loss crosses many minds.
This month I would like to offer some tips about weight management. However, I still think that the most important reason to change your eating habits is for better health. Keeping that in mind, focus on a long-term plan that will offer sustainable results along with better overall health.

10 tips for weight management:

1. Eat your breakfast-start the day with ample protein to keep you satisfied!!

2. Make lunch your largest meal of the day-this will cut down on afternoon hunger and result in eating less at dinnertime.

3. Make dinner your smallest meal of the day. The body slows down naturally after 4pm-feed it less during this period.

4. Remove from your home refined foods, sodas, ice cream, chips, etc. to cut down on cheating!!

5. Stock your fridge with the right things-fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts, hummus, sliced lean turkey, hard-boiled eggs, etc.

6. When needed, snack on small amounts of protein every 2-3 hours and eat nothing within 4 hours of going to bed.

7. Try 30 minutes of walking or other light exercise 3-5x a week for faster results. Weight training will speed results as well.

8. Make efforts to reduce stress in your life-elevated cortisol levels can impair weight loss.

9. Drink ample amounts of water. A well-hydrated body is more metabolically active. Being dehydrated slows metabolism.

10. Most importantly, make yourself a priority-change your eating habits not only for weight loss, but also for improved health!!!
